| - The food here used to be a lot better. They've been going through a kind of McDonaldsfication the past year or so. But this is still probably the best joint in town to just sit back with a freshly brewed beer and eat some used-to-be-good-now-not-great-yet-reasonably-priced barfood.
Fries are often greasy and strangely seasoned, but you can sub mashed potatoes or salad with your sandwich. The salmon BLT is substantial if a little on the fishy side. Their best items are nachos, brats and mash, cheese curds, the pretzel burger (a brat patty on a burger), and beer bread. Some of the food items are really terrible (dry gummy prime rib, the portabella sandwich tastes microwaved, tastes-like-Ragu pasta).
The menu is simply too big and certain dishes need a lot of care, not short-order preparation. But in general, if you can find a spot in the beer garden or a nice booth this is a great place to eat and drink. Keep an eye out for their terrific seasonable barley wine. 1.5 stars for the food, 5 stars for their beer, 5 stars for the beer garden.
