| - I've been to this spa twice before in the past, both times for massages and they were fine. Nothing spectacular but the service was timely and catered to my individual needs. However, the third time I went, I left feeling more tense than I had prior to going in. I had booked a spa retreat for my aunt and my mother which consisted of a facial, pedicure and manicure. Separately I was going to get a pedicure. First off, according to my mother and aunt the facial was fabulous, the disaster didn't begin until we had to get our pedis & manis.
The three ladies that did our pedicures were great, no complaints there but while having my cuticles removed, I got cut. Then came polish selection time. You would think being a spa which offers manicures and pedicures Every Single Polish that the three of us asked for wouldn't be unavailable. Combined, the three of us must have asked for roughly 10 nail polishes, none of which they had in stock. Then when it came time for my mother's manicure they informed us they didn't have the tools to remove a shellac mani, so they couldn't complete her package. Instead they were going to give us the value of the manicure and put it on to a gift card. Since this was a package deal, the gift card option wouldn't even allow her to go back on another day to receive the same service, as it was valued less.
To top things off, we finished our appointment at 4:51 pm and were told we needed to vacate the spa by 5 pm because they were having an art show that evening. Now I'm aware they are more than entitled to hosting events at this spot, however you should probably tell your clients upon booking. Instead of being granted the opportunity to shower, use the water therapies, or whirlpool we felt like we were being ushered out of the place.
Suffice it to say the ambience of this place is fantastic, the staff are friendly but with these minor hiccups of my last visit I'm reluctant to head back, especially when there are many other "urban retreats" Toronto has to offer.
