  • With the solid reviews I read on Yelp, I had high hopes for this place. As a young woman, unfortunately, I've had far too many negative experiences of the stereotypical mechanic trying to put one over on me. Despite my appearance, I know a little bit about cars, just not to the point of being to get under the hood to fix things myself. My dad is a bit of a handy man and has shown me a few things over the years. I'm always leery of trying out a new car repair place, but needed to because I recently moved. Unfortunately, Glenshaw Auto didn't do much to assuage my fears. I told them I believed I knew what was wrong and wanted it fixed. They took two days to replicate the problem I said it was -- an intermittent starting issue with a specific part that needed to be replaced -- and charged me the time to let my car run forever and not be able to restart it. They charged about double what most places would charge for the part and labor when comparing online. I paid nearly $300 when it probably should've been in the $150 range. They also attempted to pressure sales me into buying tires, which I know I need and will likely purchase before winter. But I was told that if we were in another state with different laws that my car could be impounded because of the poor state of my tires. Good thing we don't live in a state like that. I'm disappointed. I expected more. I'll have to find a reliable place elsewhere.
