  • Alright, let me start by saying that I wrote a review and saved it as a draft about a month ago. I had not posted because I wanted my membership to come to an end before posting a less-than-awesome Yelp review. My membership was scheduled to end Dec. 5, until this past weekend when I found out VIA FACEBOOK that the gym was closing effective immediately. I found out on Facebook, people... facebook. All that to say, various aspects of my membership at Pure Body ranged from awesome to not awesome. Let's start with awesome. I loved the classes offered. I'm not great at being disciplined when left to my own devices at the gym; Pure Body taught me that group fitness really does work for me and I love it! I was a regular at Body Pump, CXWorx, and TRX. I definitely saw a visible change in my muscle definition throughout my 10 month membership. Now on to the not awesome. I did feel like customer service was an issue. The folks at the front desk regularly acted like they didn't want to be there and weren't always helpful. There were also some facilities issues that members should have notified about. For example, the air conditioning was out in the Burn Room one time, and I showed up for a class in the middle of summer and couldn't even make it through the whole thing because it was unbearably hot. There was also a leak in the bathroom for quite some time, and there were never any signs posted cautioning people to be careful or making them aware that the leak was being addressed. Anyway, I did enjoy being a member of Pure Body and I'm sad to see it go. They have set the bar high for group fitness and I hope I'll be able to find something comparable in Charlotte that isn't terribly expensive.
