| - I've been going to this location for over 2 years because of my braces. Originally the staff talked us into the clear brackets (significantly more expensive than normal brackets) and we were shown no disadvantages. A year into the process, one of the dental assistants said, "Oh, why did you get the clear brackets? You know they hurt significantly more to take off. They have to break every bracket individually." (Trust me, she was right. My gums bled for two days every time I brushed my teeth after first getting my braces off)
Although that was just one incident, there seems to be a "snowball effect" of something else happening every time I visit. At the beginning of my treatment, one of the dental assistants messed up on tightening my braces three times in one visit. With the tightening came steel wires, which tighten specific teeth with more pressure than a simple rubber band. But there's also a significant amount of pain associated with putting it on your teeth, as they literally take a steel wire and tighten it around your bracket like they would to tie a bread loaf. Imagine having to repeat that process three times for the same tooth because your assistant couldn't get it right.
After that, I've had two other assistants who weren't quite able to do the tightening right. My lip has bled on multiple occasions due to the assistant missing the rubber band and instead pinching my lip. Not fun.
But moving on to the orthodontist- I really have a negative impression of him. For my first year of braces, he really showed an inferiority complex. Every visit, he would find another way to prove that he was smarter than me. He used a white board to draw a picture of him at the top of "The Wall of Fame", and a picture of me falling down and crying, which is extremely unprofessional.
Finally though, I am mostly upset at the results after I got my braces off. After a painful process, I finally got to see what my teeth looked like without braces. I was extremely disappointed to find that my teeth are more slanted that before. Although they are straight, they stick out instead of down because that was apparently the only way that it could be done (which I was not told). I am more self-conscious to smile now than ever because I feel that I look like a chipmunk. Overall, with two years worth of work, I am not satisfied with the business or the results.
