| - Look at the Bellagio fountains? Yes! Check out the inside? Maybe. Stay at the Bellagio? Absolutely not!
This place is old, it's outdated, it's uncomfortable, it does not deserve its five stars! Do yourself a favor and don't stay at the renowned Bellagio - there are many other options on the strip, that are priced less and have much better rooms and amenities.
Thought you could revitalize in a jacuzzi or a hot sauna during your stay at the Bellagio? Well, you will need to pay extra $40 per day to access the facility. In comparison, last time I stayed at Grand Hilton Vacations and I had a jacuzzi in my room and at a lower cost, with a much modern and comfortable stay.
The room didn't have a teapot or a coffee maker - I asked the front desk if I could get one and they wanted to charge me $30 for a coffee maker. Wow, even a three star motel has the common decency to include this accommodation without charge. I asked if I could get a cup of hot water and was told that they would charge me $4 and bring it up in about half an hour.
If you don't want to pay the $30 for the coffee maker, you would assume there would at least be a coffee house near by where you could get your morning cup? Well, Bellagio is not known for its coffee shops - the nearest I found was the Starbucks about a ten minute walk from the hotel or the coffee shops inside the Cosmopolitan.
They will charge you extra $30+ per day for a resort fee and an extra $3+ for tax on that same resort fee. This is a hidden fee, it's not included in your initial booking as it may only be charged upon check-in. Oh, did I mention that the $30 extra they charge you doesn't include a coffee maker or the SPA? This is just so disappointing.
Please make sure to look at your portfolio before checking-out, they also charged us for minibar items that we didn't use. Seems like their electronic minibar checkout system is faulty and why would they fix it if it's adding an extra few dollars to the bill. I called the front desk and they apologized and canceled the charges.
Imagine you come back to your room after a long night, try to get in and your door card reader just doesn't do anything, the door has locked you out! Well that could happen if you stay in Bellagio. In my case, I had to swipe the card in an out for about 20 minutes before it finally opened. I suppose the locks are just old and are breaking down while you're using it, not the best experience.
The shower and the bathroom were just outdated and you could tell things were falling apart. The shower door would push the towel matt on the ground, so you would need to choose between stepping out on a towel or closing your shower door. The toilet flushed like a rocket launcher... 3, 2, 1, flush!
The room also, unfortunately, lacked a refrigerator. We had a few snacks with us that we bought on the road and couldn't refrigerate it in the room. Not that I mind having a fully stocked minibar, but I would also like to have just a small area for food purchased outside and not marked up 300%.
Before you could take the elevator up to your room, you will need to present your room key to the guard. I found this process a bit tedious and intrusive. A much better experience, I believe, is swiping your card inside the elevator instead of having a security guard chase you down the hallway to ask for your room key. I know this is a minor detail, but all of these minor experiences add up into an uncomfortable and unpleasant stay, which is especially saddening since I was on my vacation.
I hope you think twice before staying at the Bellagio. Seriously, if you've read so far and are still considering to stay at the Bellagio, message me and I will convince you otherwise. There are just so many better options on the strip that it would be a pity to waste your money here.
