| - I came here yesterday for some afternoon drinking, figuring I could walk it off up and down Water St. Checking out the local businesses. Yeah, the street is pretty dead, so I did walk it but there was nothing to be seen. Which is a shame because it is a charming little street.
Oh well, on to Lovelady. I don't know the story behind the name, and the decor is kinda like a grandma went to town on it, you know, like country charm, but her everything is about uses there are worse sentiments though, right? My friend and I both went for the flight, which ended up being like 10 bucks. That came with the kettle sour and a pinapple sour, an IPA, a red ale, a Porter and a couple of other ones. Sweet Jesus, are they potent! Supposedly the ABV for most of them was around 5% but I don't know. It took us a good two hours to drink them all and we definitely felt it. I did like them all, and would consider filling a growler with some of their options to take home.
The men behind the bar, presumably the owners, were very nice and worked the room a couple of times. I would say that despite the decor, it is very much a man's bar, as there were some legit (men) beer connoisseurs there. I don't mind that, and will definitely be back! I will say that they need to establish relationships with more food trucks, the one that was outside yesterday served salmon and pastas, not my idea of a perfect beer pairing.
