I'm currently buying with Ryland Homes.
The sales team, especially David at X-It is very knowledgable about his product. The company however isn't as impressive. Their lender took two months to PreApproval my loan which did not beat my banks offer that took 5 minutes to process.
The design center was a JOKE! The only thing standard in the house are the outlets. Everything else is an upgrade! You want a light or fan in your room...upgrade and it's only for the prewiring not the actual fixture. You CANT buy your home in semi-gloss paint, only flat, lol WTF? You cannot pay extra to have the Nice cabinets, they only have 3 options for you to choose from. The actual design center doesn't have the items for you to see in person, they show them to you in a cheap color photo on regular paper. I had the height of my cabinets upgraded to touch the ceiling and had to pay extra for them to connect across the top of the refrigerator, lol fo-real? I upgraded to a massive island in the kitchen with edges that were twice as thick as usual and even had additional granite extended across the wall and they still wouldn't include granite for the restroom counters--these guys are killin me. In the model they have speakers throughout the house to listen to your music but that's not even an option at the design center, LOL!! Talk about false advertisement.
The lot premiums start at $30K on top of the sales price. They give you $10K in upgrades but honestly that pays for less than the bare minimum with other builders. With other builders you get tons what you already see in the model. Unless you plan on paying someone at the parking lot of HomeDepot to get what you want for a decent price, don't let Ryland do you durty.
