| - First off, I am not a big cupcake or cookie fan. Of course I've tried the cupcakes here and they are good, for cupcakes, if you like butter cream frosting (note: do NOT place cupcakes in the fridge because the frosting will harden just like butter!) and subtle flavors but that's not why I come here. So, what is it that is special about this place? I think it's the Morning Bun. You know how many big cities out there have bakeries that are famous for one item? And when you visit that city everyone is like, "you have to go to ___ and order the ___." I think that place is Urban Cookie and that item is the Morning Bun. A previous reviewer compared the texture to a croissant, since it is made from the same dough, and deemed it to be too dry by comparison. Well, this is not a croissant. The texture is that of the flaky, slightly crispy OUTSIDE of a croissant. The dough is slathered with butter/sugar/cinnamon/orange zest goodness then wrapped into a cinnamon roll shape and baked. What you get is a flaky, somewhat crunchy, buttery, sugar and cinnamon delight. No, it is not fluffy like the inside of a croissant but you can dissect it layer by delicious layer like a cinnamon roll and you bet your sweet Morning Bun the middle coil is moist. On the whole it is more crispy than gooey so don't get it if you expect it to be soft like a cinnamon roll. But, if you enjoy the flavor of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, think butter enhances everything, and like to play with your food (i.e. "un wrap" the coil) then please try the Morning Bun.
