| - I currently own a 2011 Nissan Rogue and couldn't be happier with it, but the lease on it is up in February, so I've been looking around in the event that I wanted to trade it in for something else.
I have medical issues that made an SUV attractive for the raised driving position, however, as my condition has improved, I've been considering moving down to a sedan of some sort (as I really have no other reason for driving a larger vehicle). With that in mind, I went to Peoria Nissan to view both the Altima and the Sentra.
From the moment I arrived, it was an experience of misinformation and shady dealings, but do you know what annoyed me the most? It wasn't that the salesman (who's name escapes me and who is NOT on the staff page of their website) OR the Asst. Sales Manager Scott Smith didn't know anything the ads their own dealership put out, (and then lied trying to save face, claiming he DID know about the ads, but those cars were gone already), it wasn't that the salesman lied to my face about which cars were leasing better, and it wasn't that the salesman lied to me about how much I could get the car for per month; do you know what it was? It was that they held my keys hostage when I was ready to leave!
When they told me they couldn't do the lease terms I wanted, I said that was fine, I understood completely, and asked for my keys so I could go (they had taken them to check out my leased vehicle for condition). First, Scott Smith came over (sans keys) asking what 'wiggle room' I had in my terms. I said we'd already discussed my terms and could i have my keys back, please? He left. He came back (again, no keys) insisting that they wanted to try to put the deal together and could I pay just this much more per month? No, I said, I've told you what I was willing to pay and you can't do it. Please bring me my keys. Finally, a finance guy came over (again, he's not on the staff page), and wanted to "Just ask me one question..." to which I said "No, let me ask YOU a question. WHERE ARE MY KEYS?" "Oh, I can get them..." "Then get them."
I finally received my keys and was able to leave the lot after 20 minutes of being jerked around. I hadn't been gone 15 minutes when Asst. Sales Manager Arthur Brown called me to leave a message, wanting me to call him to try to put together a deal.
These people are extremely pushy, unknowledgeable, misleading, and unpleasantly overbearing. I won't be returning here, even for service.
