  • I have been going to this bakery for quite a while and it has slowly started to descend into a really, really sad situation. I know everything has gotten expensive and it must be hard to run a bakery not really knowing what and how much you will sell every day, but sometimes making changes to extremes ruins the experience. I was there the Saturday before Easter 2018 and from my previous experience had already noticed some changes such as 1) I am part of their star rewards and had already earned 10 stars from my last visit and never received my code for a discount on my next visit via email. 2) They no longer used the shopping paper bags w/handles which gave the experience of something special (it's the little touches which make a customer feel special and returning) but instead cheap "little" plastic bags. 3) They had started to change personnel on a regular basis. What really tipped me off things were amiss this weekend all had gone down in a handbasket is their once beloved carrot cake was not in the usual "huge" wedges but cut into squares as if they had lazily made a sheet cake and put out squares, which typically means less time, less mess, less cake & less eye appealing than a wedge. I also noticed their banana cream pie which used to be very good also appeared to be cut into squares and thrown into a clam box (I couldn't tell if it had a crust or not) the same for the chocolate cream - it was as if they made the pie in a sheet pan and cut squares where they once used to make 5 inch individual pies - and speaking of pies, their pies were so good, the crust so flakey, the fruit filling so luscious and then they stopped making them in individual size, really? The counter was fuller than most days which is surprising on a holiday weekend - now that made me really worried. As for the items I purchased, I have to say the kitchen sink cookies were tasteless - I haven't yet eaten the brownie or the blondie I will have to wait and see. It's a shame when owners of something so nice start to get lazy, make cheap changes, and just let the business run itself to the ground. I am now back to going to other bakeries and will probably not return here since it was on a spiral downwards.
