| - I've stayed at the Oasis at Gold Spike 4 times over the past couple of years. Sadly this will be my last stay. When the Oasis was new it was great, the rooms were clean and everything and everything was brand new and cute but, it has gone down hill fast. I'll list all the pros and cons of my most recent stay and you can form your own opinion as to whether this is the right place for you.
Pros:
* Location is awesome! Super close to Fremont St and the Freeway.
* Pet friendly
* Suites are spacious
* Bar and Restaraunt on property. Food is bar type food and it's decent when in a hurry or too hung over to move (burgers, chicken strips, wraps, paninis, salads etc)
* Small property is easy to navigate
* Pool is super cute and pretty quiet
* Prices are very affordable during the week
Cons:
* Check in/out takes awhile. I am never in a hurry when in Vegas, so it's not a big deal but, check in takes about 30 minutes if there is 1 person ahead of you and other people waiting are visibly annoyed
* Rooms are not very clean, there was sticky stuff in the seam of the couch. I am telling myself someone prob spilled a drink but...who really knows what it was.
* The front door hinge to the room was broken, the front desk person knew this as she had to open the door for us. Nobody offered to fix it and we battled opening/shutting the door all weekend.
* One of the AC units wasn't working properly
* Pretty much everything in the room was broken (coffee table, chair etc)
* It's kinda ghetto
* It's LOUD until about 2a.m. but it's Vegas so I can't complain too much about that. If you're going to stay up all nite the it wont effect you. It is quieter during the day if that's when you choose to get some sleep.
* Most of the staff or friendly but some of them are moping around like they hate life.
* There were ALOT of little bugs in the bathroom. I get it, it is a motel and we were on the ground floor and DT Vegas is super dirty but come on.
* The final straw...a cock roach in my room!
Oasis at Gold Spike...you were once a gem. It's sad what has become of you.
