  • Manpuku is what you call a hidden gem- tucked away inside Village by the Grange on St Patrick Street, the food here does not disappoint. I usually order the Niku or Curry udon and substitute the udon for shirataki for $1.99 more. One of the reasons I frequent Manpuku so much is because they're one of the only Japanese restaurants I know of that serves shirataki noodles (0 calorie/miracle noodles!!) I'm not a huge fan of ramen joints because I find the entire combination of rich soup, pork belly, egg and heavy noodles to be too much for me.The soup base for the udon at Manpuku is really light yet flavourful and generous in toppings (beef/pork/vegetables). I like that they don't try to be "hip" or a complete hole-in-the-wall restaurant; it's clean and simple. It's also not overwhelmingly loud or bustling, service is decent but nothing to complain about! Definitely good value for your money and an atmosphere where you can thoroughly enjoy your food!
