I know relatively little about photography. I wanted to buy a new point-and-shoot camera with a powerful lens. Initially, I looked online but realized that I would not be making an informed decision with so little familiarity. I also went to major electronic and departments stores but realized that the employees there would not know anything more about the products than I did.
Finally I decided to go to a camera shop and chose B & C Camera on West Sahara Avenue. These guys all know their stuff when it comes to cameras and related accessories. I was given great service by Kyle at B&C Camera.
He patiently listened to my needs and proceeded to show me a variety of different camera models which fit my criteria. He explained the pros and cons of each camera. There was not any pressure from him to buy any particular model. When I explained to him that I would like to take a new camera along when I went hiking, he encouraged me to consider cameras that had a built-in viewfinder for picture taking on very sunny days.
Ultimately, I ended up buying a Panasonic Lumix camera at B&C, a brand and model I had not even been considering when I first entered the store. But after being able to test out various camera brands and models and discuss their pros and cons with Kyle, I concluded that that was the best model for me.
I paid the manufacturer's suggested retail price for the camera but considering the help that I received at B&C I was willing to do this.
Their accessories are not necessarily competitively-priced such as SD memory cards and cases, but they are certainly worth going to for buying a new camera.
