Uuuugh.
I've patronized the "original" Ray's in Kent on and off for years. Suffice it to say -- "this ain't." Here's a brief summary of today's visit:
Six of us went in for dinner. I had the garden burger, a beer and I ordered a basket of fries for the table. The burger was nasty -- mushy, tasteless and, well, most of it did not get eaten. The texture was really bad. The fries (Ray's was once known for the fries ...) were luke-warm and very soggy with oil. Sat around too long? Cooked too cold? Dunno. But, they were not good. (I think 3-4 of the entrees were served with fries -- most went back to the kitchen.)
The service was good.
Lots of TVs. Even though there were not many people there the place was noisy. (Why do I need a TV during dinner?)
As we drove home, and passed places where we'd never eat -- Applebees, Olive Garden, etc., we remarked that they looked pretty good compared to the place we just left. And, I guess that's the point -- I can't think of a single reason to return to Ray's.
