| - TLDR : Level of service seems to be a crapshoot, techs overtightened the spokes on my rear wheel leading to stress fractures. Go there at your own risk.
I've had three separate experiences with this shop over the summer:
1. Bought a new bike for commuting. Overall experience was OK, service was extremely slow. Like the bike enough, but in hindsight I should of listened to my gut rather than the salesman and gotten a larger frame.
Experience, 3 star.
2. Brought my mountain bike wheel for a spoke replacement. Was told the wheel would be read on day X. On day X, I call and am told the wheel will be ready in 1h. Arrive 3h later and the work hasn't been started.
Experience, 1 star.
3. Brought my commuter in for service ( brakes had never worked right, chain had stuck links after ~ 2 months ). When I got it back the brakes were working well, however the chain developed a problem again within a day.
Experience (staff): 4 star, Experience (work done): 2 star.
Yesterday, I was cleaning the mountain bike and noticed some cracks near the spokes on the rear wheel so I brought the wheel to my usual shop ( not McW ) and had them look at it. The tech discovered the spokes were over-tensioned which lead to the cracks forming. Wheel's been re-trued, but those cracks are now permanent potential failure points.
After two separate technical problems on two separate bikes, I can say with utmost certainty that I would certainly never recommend this shop.
