  • Not very impressed with what was my first and will be my last experience with Cactus Flower. I work across the street and stopped in here on my lunch break the Monday before Christmas, as I wanted to order a bouquet for my grandmother for the holidays. Knowing that Cactus Flower had such a great reputation at least in the past, I figured the big price tag on some flowers would be worth it. When I entered, needless to say they were busy.. But I expected that. I didn't expect to stand in line to wait to be acknowledged by one of the free "florists." There was only one gentleman in front of me, and he was already being helped. Another woman was on the phone with who I'm assuming was a delivery driver and there were at least four other women in there who didn't give me the time of day. When I was finally acknowledged and helped, I asked to see some examples of Christmas bouquets, and asked for recommendations for hearty flower that would last long in warm environments (my grandmothers home is extremely hot). The woman who was helping me not only didn't know how to operate the computer system, but couldn't give me any straightforward recommendations on flowers or arrangements. After a while of struggling through her sentences, she pointed to a card on the counter with some popular Christmas arrangements. I liked one, except for the fact that it had Carnations in it. Everyone who has at least somewhat of a respectable knowledge on flower-giving knows that carnations are a no-no. So, I asked the lady if I could pay more and have them subbed out for white roses instead (to have a combination of red and white roses with the green filler plants and pinecones). She said yes. I also paid extra to have some orchids put in the bouquet to add a bit of height to it, because it came in a low, square vase. When I went to pick the arrangement up, I found that it was MUCH smaller than it seemed in the advertisement. maybe a 5"x5"x4" vase. And, needless to say there were carnations spread throughout it. I asked the woman (different from the lady that helped me order) to look back through the order and see if this was notated, and it was. So, I asked them to fix this mistake, and that I would return in about a half and hour to pick it up. When I returned the bouquet really wasn't much better. Instead of the normal white roses I expected to be in the arrangement, I got these miniature white roses that not only looked cheap and sleazy, but were brown and dying around the edges. Without much time to spare, I just agreed to take it anyway, instead of waiting another half an hour to fix yet another issue. When I got to the register to pay, I was blown away at the over $80 price tag for such a puny and pathetic excuse for a "bouquet". I've seen better from $25 arrangement I ordered off one of those infamous online flower websites... Never again will I purchase from Cactus Flower. Unless they change their policies on fresh flowers and hire competent florists, I really can't say I will give them my business again.
