| - The best apples in the world (IMHO) grow in Ohio, and Eddy's is where you find them. It's good to know where your food comes from, better to harvest it yourself (would be fantastic to grow it myself, but hey, no apple trees in my yard), and great to pay less than at the neighborhood grocery store. We lived close to Eddy's for a long time and stopped in regularly for apples, pumpkins, cider, etc. We now live nearer to Cleveland, and while a trip to Eddy's is a further piece down the road these days, it's fine (and makes a good excuse to grab some pizza at Guido's while we're in the neighborhood!).
I picked a bunch of Melrose apples, packed them along with some caramel sauce, and delivered them to clients living in the apartment building down the street from my office. Many of these folks were new to Ohio, and I received a number of emails and calls from them, thanking me for the Ohio-apple love.
My favorite apple dip recipe: Beat 8 ounces of softened cream cheese with 1/2 cup (packed) of brown sugar, 1/4 cup of caramel ice cream topping, and one teaspoon of vanilla extract until it's smooth; fold in one cup of marshmallow fluff. Cut an apple into slices, dip, and enjoy (a.k.a. try to stop eating this stuff!).
