  • We enjoy magic, and we go to the Magic Castle in Hollywood a few times every year to see different magicians, and much of the time I can figure out how most of the tricks are done. Not with Criss Angel's show. This is a big-budget show, and the big tricks are amazing. (And his close-up work with coins was also amazing.) I see other comments about the bumbling couple that provide comic relief, but the show needs them to give the stage crew (and Criss) time to set up the big tricks. They were uneven as comic relief, but were a lot better than just closing a curtain or darkening the stage between big sets. And some of the running gags were quite funny... The levitation tricks were stunning. We are still trying to figure out how some of them were done (other than real magic, of course). Criss' persona seems a bit uneven - is he the goth mind freak, or a nice guy doing amazing tricks, or ??? We were in the front row, off to the right (facing the stage) and in a position to see behind some of the tricks and we still couldn't figure most of them out. Even when we KNEW that Criss was going to appear in the chair 15 feet from us, we could NOT see how he got in there - seemingly instantaneously. We weren't sure what to expect, but I do recommend this show if you enjoy watching a master magician perform tricks that seem like real magic!
