First things first: Thank you Hotwire for scoring us a 4 star hotel for approx $110/night and a BIG BIG thank you amazing staff at Renaissance for upgrading our room to one that overlooked the field! It was awesome to watch my first Canadian football game right from my hotel room.
Did you know that the field can be changed from a football field to a baseball field and then back to create a concert space?!( If I knew Jay Z would be in town that week, I would have totally bought tickets :()
So if you plan on booking a room that looks over the Blue Jays Stadium, be aware of a few things 1. they close the dome after games and during set-up time in between events so if you're looking forward to waking up with the sun streaming through the window like I did, you'd be a tad bit disappointed. 2. If you're there to see a concert, for security reasons, you wont be able to unless you buy a ticket- viewing from your hotel room becomes a security issue and I heard they actually pull down a shield thing?? which is understandable too. just FYI.
In terms of accessibility and location, its pretty ideal and walking distance to a lot of really great food (check out my other Toronto foodie reviews).
Also, we rented a car and parking was *NOT* free. It was a bit out of the way actually but it was definitely a good idea to rent a car and explore other parts of Toronto :)
