  • for some reason i felt that i needed to rotate my tires, i went to a shop close to where i live to do the rotation, and while there, they discovered that my brake cylinders were leaking. now i don't know if this is just this places prices, or because i'm a woman, or had out of state license plates, but they quoted me the ridiculous sum of $427.00, in today's economy that amount was NOT an option. so i told them i would get back to them, went home and called my mechanic back home whom i'd been going to for over 20 years, this guy was as honest as a mechanic gets (or so i thought until i met Carl). he told me the price of this job with parts and labor, and i now had ballpark to measure against. after asking countless people who i've met since i moved here, NOBODY knew of an honest mechanic, i thought i was done for until i went online and Carl's Cool Cars came up, with several people recommending him. i called him up, and he gave me a guesstimate over the phone (which he honored), that saved me over $250. he's a little out of my way, but that's because i live in the boonies, but i would rather have an honest mechanic far away, than a swindle shop nearby. Carl is a good guy, a good mechanic, and an honest one to boot. i will not only be taking my car to him from now on, but recommending him to all those who didn't have an answer when i asked about honest mechanics.
