| - For a company that has been in business for over 30 years, I was shocked at how poor my overall experience was with them. I shopped all over town to find the best price on a particular Dreamweaver carpet and found Carpet's Galore had the best overall (carpet/pad/install/price). Day 1, I walked into the store and was helped by a salesman named "Jamie." To be blunt, he was awful. I explained to him the exact dreamweaver carpet I was looking for and then asked him to show me other products similar to the carpet I wanted. He showed me nothing, it was as if he was unfamiliar with his own products to show me other examples. I was confident in wanting the dreamweaver so I stuck with it without thinking much of my experience with him. Next day, he came to my house to do the measurements. He looked around my house and tried to talk me out of the carpet I had selected. Although I understood he was trying to point some issues out, he really made an effort to talk me into a different carpet which is not what I wanted. At this point, I was sorely disappointed In his lack of customer service but this was only the beginning.
I called Jaime back within 2 days and said I wanted to use Carpets Galore to install my carpet as the had the best overall price for the specific carpet I wanted. On November 3rd, he specifically told me if we ordered today, the carpet would arrive on Nov 20th and could be installed on that day or the day after. I asked if he could get it quicker to which he said after calling the manufacturer directly, Nov 20th was the best they could do. I was not pleased with the lengthy wait but knowing this up front and being able to plan ahead, I agreed to sign their contract and paid them via credit card in advance.
On November 7th, after not hearing from Jaime, I contacted him and asked for a specific install date and time assuming it would be sometime on Nov 20th like he initially told me or perhaps the very next day if arrival was later in the day. I was shocked when he told me the manufacturer did not have the carpet in stock and would not even be producing the carpet until Nov 20th in Georgia. Given 5 more days for shipping, the carpet would not arrive until Nov 29th and could then be installed sometime after that date. This was very upsetting news as I was moving into a new house and planned my move and time off work accordingly based on what Jaime told me initially and also what we AGREED to via contract and the facts I had already paid IN FULL! Jaime essentially told me there was nothing he could do and tried to offer me a lesser quality carpet instead which could be installed earlier. This obviously was not an option for me. I the spoke to Greg, the manager, who was of no help and was obviously well versed in verbal judo. They did NOTHING for me!
November 13th -- After assuming I was screwed and having to wait until at least Nov 29 to have my carpet installed, I received a phone call from Ron at Carpets Galore stating they had my carpet and could install tomorrow at 9am. Somehow, the carpet magically appeared out of nowhere as it was not even supposed to be manufactured until Nov 24th. How it arrived is anyone's guess but I was happy it came early.
Nov 14th--- Waiting patiently for the crew to show up at 9am to install, I call Ron at 9:32am to check the status of his crew as they had not yet shown up to which he said in a condescending tone, "Well, I don't know if I said 9 but they are on the way."
The only reason I gave 1 star, is simply because I couldn't give zero stars. This was an absolutely putrid experience with a company of over 30 years. I was very surprised at this. I will say, the install crew of 3 men led by another person by the name of Jaime, did a very nice job. We will see if it holds up over the first few months but at first glance it looks like a good install. Perhaps Carpets Galore has been doing a fine job for over 30 years but I can say if this continues, they certainly will not exist much longer.
