| - My 70 year old hip Mom invited me to a special Sunday event downtown, so on the way back I thought why not treat her to something different by going to Mother Bunch for a Mother Brunch. What I should have asked her is, "hey Mom, would you like to go to a brewery for some bland food, bad service and have glasses of unconsumed beer shattered at your feet?? And, If we are really lucky, we'll get that rude & inappropriate waiter too!"
Having been here three times before & liking the historic building and the thought of good beer & good food didn't hesitate trying their Sunday "Mother Brunch". My first visit was good, second and third less so. On this day???? You decide....
The lowdown:
Really cool atmosphere & not many patrons.
Our flamboyant waiter was not knowledgeable in the least about many of the guest taps. This is a brewery, right???? Getting his attention with waving arms & resonant voice for condiments & silverware after our food found its way to our table by kitchen help was painfully laborious. It was a fellow waitstaff from across the bar 25 feet away who finally came over whilst our waiter stood 6 feet from us flirting with the big bearded bartender guy. And how could one forget the lewd gestures he made to said bearded guy as they walked out from near the kitchen door.
The food; we ordered the Breakfast Sandwich; ("Scrambled eggs, bacon, tomato, mayo, and cheddar on toasted ciabatta. Served with home fries"). What came was a large sad plate with a small sandwich on a soft, squishy roll with a handful of quartered small potatoes along side. No garnishment, no anything else. The sandwich had no tomato and was lacking in flavor. The potatoes, lukewarm & mildly seasoned, no accompanying anything.
The finale: partially consumed glasses of beer dropped 2 feet from our table shattering in our direction & splashing their contents on our legs & feet. An accident most definitely but the red flag was the lack of concern or help by anyone other than the bus girl. Not one person came to help her or help us out of the way of all the glass or offer us napkins or towels. The big bearded guy came over once most of the glass was swept up saying he could carry us to our car. LOL. Our waiter was peering out from the kitchen area & never came over to our table (we had paid our check by then). The Chef (owner???) sat at the side kitchen bar less than 10 feet away watching and didn't move an inch nor acknowledge the event until we walked by her on our way to the restroom to clean off our shoes & clothing.
A bad day for Mother Bunch bunch or a trend. Sadly, from my experiences there to date it seems the latter.
