I was always very intimidated by Crossfit even though I have been working out for many years. I moved to Scottsdale almost a year ago from Chicago, and decided I was going to give them a call and receive some information.
I made an appointment with Luke, went in and had a brief fitness test and we talked about my concerns. I was coming from a yoga background and there were a lot of things about Crossfit that didn't appeal to me. Luke suggested that I try the all woman's class on Tuesday and Thursday morning. A few days had passed and Luke had followed up with me. HIs phone call and follow up drew me in. It was at that time that I took a look at my schedule to see how I could fit it in with my current physical activity. I have now been at the facility for about five months.
I have met great coaches that have been so encouraging and have really supported me. This environment called on me to face my challenges, and I am so grateful for being able to push through my fear and hesitation.
I now feel ready to step out of my comfort zone and begin to take some different classes. Needless to say, my children are now going too! I feel comfortable working with others that are stronger and are capable of more than me because they have become my greatest teachers.
I love coming here, and when I do, I'm always ready for the challenge and to give it my best. I never thought I would be able to do some of the things I can do now. I have accomplished more in the time I have been here than in all my years of exercise. I have never felt out of place here, and everyone here makes you feel very welcome.
I speak very highly of the coaches and any concerns I have ever had have always been addressed. It's always scary to try new things; especially if we think we lack skill or are not capable of something. Crossfit has been a true test of my openness and character.
