| - Prologue:
My fiancee and I were looking for a new sushi experience for our weekly Saturday evening dinner date and a search on Yelp of sushi restaurants close to home yielded this restaurant along with some good reviews.
The Plot:
It was apparent from our review of the menu, as well as the signage posted in the restaurant, that they offered a greater variety items compared to the other sushi restaurants we've already tried.
So, we decided to be adventurous and order several dishes to share, including Deep Fried Baby Octopus, Pork Tonkatsu, Dynamite, Soft Shell Crab Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, Rainbow Roll, and Uni Nigiri.
The Scene:
Most impressive for us was the presentation, particularly the extra effort that apparently had been given to plating the maki rolls. The Soft Shell Crab roll was actually a little creepy looking, which made it even more fun to eat.
All of the other dishes were good and on par with favorable dining experiences I've had in the past. The Baby Octopus was warm, crispy, and yummy, the Pork Tonkatsu was juicy, tender, and delectable, and the Dynamite was savory and satisfying.
The service was courteous, our orders were all promptly delivered to our table, and the meal, overall, was quite delightful.
The Rest of the Story:
Everything was as good as expected and there were no disappointments.
At the same time, there were no real stars in this meal. Considering the variety and the number of specialty items on their menu, another visit might reveal something more memorable.
My fiancee was a little surprised when the tab came to about $70; however, having had similar dining experiences in the past I was fully expecting to pay that much.
Epilogue:
The quality of the food and the variety of items on the menu easily deserve 3 stars.
Never the less, this dining experience did not rank among the best $70 meals we've had and so we elected to not award a 4th star.
