Having been a musician in LA for decades, I got a little spoiled being able to access the small boutique guitar stores scattered throughout the Valley and Hollywood. Although I took a long break from playing music after moving to Vegas - I would still occasionally poke about looking for small stores off the well worn Sam Ash / Guitar Center path. There just aren't that many here in the big V.
Enter Cowtown Guitars.
Cowtown is a small independent guitar store newly relocated to the Arts District in Downtown Las Vegas. The store is chock full with new and used vintage amps and guitars in various states of condition and pricing. From 50s Les Pauls to 60s Melody Makers to more funky stuff like a Baldwin Vibraslim - Cowtown carries some weird and wonderful stuff!
I personally really like the fact that they seek out and support small makers of hand-crafted items like guitar straps and have a guitar and amp repair shop in the back. I've had various basses set up by Rod (in the past) and Davis (more recently) - and they've all come back much improved! The store has a super relaxed vibe - and often has local musicians either working there or just hanging out. A great place to get yer gearhead geek on. Unchain yourself and shop local!
