Millvale finally got its coffee shop. It was a long time ago that Amy Enrico had looked into opening in Millvale, but it wasn't meant to be, and instead it was Highland Park that was the lucky destination for that fine establishment. Something like eighteen years later and Tazza d'Oro is now present in this grungy yet charming little borough. (Sorry, I'm plagiarizing NextPittsburgh. https://www.nextpittsburgh.com/city-design/new-tazza-doro-coffee-shop-to-anchor-millvales-bennett-station-project/ )
With giant roll-up garage door windows opening into a spacious room beautified with an old school ceiling, orange bar stools and white hex tiles, the new Tazza d'Oro is decidedly more modern than the original. They're still loyal purveyors of that good ole Counter Culture, and I got a pour-over of the Guatemala Sipacapa kind. The congenial barista dude brewed it perfectly and I walked away with a better cup of gold than most places could offer.
Millvale looks like it's set to be heavily revitalized and Tazza d'Oro is at the forefront, kindly leading the way just like it did eighteen years ago. How many Pittsburgh favorites am I allowed to have?
