I stayed here on a whim when I was in Tempe visiting ASU. Like other reviewers noted, the style and decor are awesome and unlike any hotel I've stayed at before. They really made an attempt to make everything quirky and interesting. The location is also great and within walking distance to many interesting businesses. I didn't try the restaurants, but they looked cool. My room was also sparkling clean.
Now for the bad news: I thought the staff was aloof and unfriendly. I am not looking to be your best friend, but it is a hotel so a warmer welcome would be appreciated: i.e. put some cucumber water and cups out in the lobby (we're in Arizona) and maybe put on some music. I also told them I had a discount, but they didn't apply it to the bill. Some other quirks: all the soda machines I tried on all floors were out of water, the A/C isn't powerful and is more of a fan, the shampoo and soap bottles in the shower were low and I felt like I didn't get enough to actually feel clean. In all, I think the hotel design is great, but a few things are lacking.
