  • I am sticking with my four-star review, but I just read some of the owner's responses to other reviews and the remarks are simply mean-spirited, inappropriate, and unbelievably sarcastic. Yelp reviews are there for two reasons. The primary reason for a Yelp review is to alert other would-be customers about restaurants (or businesses) to visit and other restaurants to avoid. Fortunately for the owner, it is the positive comments about the food that encouraged me to try this restaurant - because if it weren't for Yelp, I can guarantee 100% that I would have never tried this restaurant. Not everybody is going to like your food, your location, your service, or something else, and that's OK. Everybody has an opinion, and they are entitled to not only have that opinion, but they are entitled to express it as well. As an owner, you also have the right to respond, but you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. The best response is probably no response, and let the good reviews shine through. Everybody knows that some people are sticklers and there is no pleasing them, so why bother getting into a shouting match? Honestly, if I had read the responses that were left for other reviewers by the owner before I came here, I would have never stepped foot in the restaurant because the owner's responses were just downright mean and condescending. I would not have wanted to patronize a restaurant that treats its customers like that before, during, or after a visit. The second reason for a Yelp review is to provide extremely valuable feedback to business owners. Consider yourself lucky to live in an era where people feel comfortable using Yelp. It is literally providing you immediate feedback for which you would have to pay a market research company tens of thousands of dollars to compile for you. And, Yelp does it for free. Yelp provides a double-edged sword. It can propel a little-known business into a huge success, and it can deter would-be customers from ever visiting a business based on the honest feedback of others. Please do not respond to this critique. It is meant as constructive criticism, to help you have a successful business. I love to help local businesses succeed, and that is why I leave a Yelp review in the first place. The food at your restaurant is wonderful, but if some people don't care for the food, or the service, or the ambience, then you can take the criticisms to heart or you can ignore them. But, it is in your best interest to focus on the positive, ignore the truly negative, and use constructive suggestions to help your business succeed. I sincerely wish you continued success, and I have already told several people about the amazing food there. But, the treatment that other reviewers received really put a sour taste in my mouth.
