| - This review is for the sushi only.
I understand people not wanting to pay the price of high quality sushi - it's expensive, I get it. But it's truly a culinary experience. When you get good fish, cut with artistry and finesse, served well in a beautiful setting, then it's a price worth paying.
I absolutely love sushi. I've had good and bad experiences all over the globe. This, while not in my #1 slot, it does make the top 5. The cuts are perfect. Thick, uniform, and precisely sized. The fish itself melts in your mouth, as it should. The edamame was crisp, and well seasoned (I didn't care for the chili seasoning, but my husband did). The seaweed salad was perfectly prepared.
Drinks: I started with an infusion. A pineapple sake cocktail. Probably one of the most dangerous drinks on the planet. So good! The sake selection is extensive and will take another visit to explore more throughly, but impressive nonetheless.
Service: Our waiter was triple sat with us (party of 2), a party of 7, and a party of 10. Come on guys, that's just not fair. But in our servers defense, he handled it expertly. He asked for help from other staff when he was overwhelmed and the support staff always stopped to refill our glasses or clear the plates. To someone who doesn't notice those sorts of things, it would have been seamless. To me it was server perfection. Well done!
Atmosphere: This is a nice get away from the bustle of the casino. You can't hear the commotion from the dining area and the views of the fountains are spectacular! It's a beautiful setting and quite conducive to an enjoyable evening. The music is quiet, yet enjoyable and the decor is hip and trendy, yet elegant and well executed.
In conclusion, I'm sad that yellowtail doesn't get better reviews. While I only enjoyed the sushi on this visit, I would be willing to try more. Including the chefs choice menu with 7 courses and a sake pairing!
Well done over all, Yellowtail. A specific thank you to Chef Akira Back and your team!
