  • I went here tonight with family & friends. At first everything about the place was pretty inviting. The restaurant itself wasn't super ghetto like a lot of American sushi places tend to be. I chose this place because I heard a Japanese person was the owner & hoped that the standards would be a little higher. I don't have high expectations when it comes to sushi in America & never expect it to be like Japanese sushi... I mean you can never expect a different country to get it 100% right. Americanized sushi in it's way has it's own charm, so I'm by no means one of those people who expects Japanese standards when in America. However it wasn't even the sushi that bugged me. The sushi was average. Didn't hate it didn't love it. The service is what really got me down. When we went there it wasn't that busy. There were actually a lot of workers. Two girls & a man who waited tables as well as worked in the back. 3 waiters for a not so busy sushi restaurant. So you can imagine our shock when we waved & "excused me"d in a none aggressive way over & over & over again & got no attention. It got to a point where I was waving from my seat, both hands up & everyone eating at the restaurant was looking at me like, "WTF" & STILL no one came. So basically 3 waiters are purposefully not serving us or they are all extremely bad at their job because the place is not that big. How can you not see me? The girls didn't have bad attitudes but I could not get over the fact that there were 3 of them, & I got the attention of all of the customers & still could not get a waiter. It made me feel even more sad when they all gave me dirty looks as if I was a bitch, even though I wasn't being aggressive & I was only trying to get someone to do their job & get my friend the beer they forgot to bring... I even got the attention of the man who was working there & he was wearing gloves so he made a hand signal at me saying that he could not help me. One of the girls was right next to him but he didn't even tell her to go help me, he just went to the back & went on with his business ignoring me completely. It felt like someone had spit in my face, I was so insulted. It's funny because everyoneeeee was getting waited on except for us. Tables were being wiped & we still could not catch the eye of the waitress..... & okay I am not going to scream for someone to help me & throw a fit & make a scene.... so I just tried to be cool about it while entertaining a friend. My guest was handicapped in a wheel chair. Maybe they were prejudiced against that? I mean we went in there not demanding anything or needing any special treatment... we were just hungry wanting to order food! It was so bizarre how singled out we were! We were pretty cool about it & just had our conversations hoping that someone would stop by to see how we were doing, since politely trying to get their attention was out of the question. 30 minutes later after the whole incident with the man the beer never came & we ran out of food. No one came to see how we were doing so we actually had to get out of our seat & walk to the sushi bar to ask someone to help us. At this point I really wanted to get out of this place but I was entertaining a guest who was visiting from out of town & could not just up & get out of this horrible place. I never got any refills of my drink that night. We never got asked if our table needed more food or drink. I mean I'm not even sure this is a restaurant really because I did not even have the opportunity to order more food. The worst part was after the guy who never got us any help was done with whatever he was doing in the back he was waiting tables again & would hover & hover & hover over our table but NEVER ask if we were doing okay or needed anything. I am really glad we decided not to get the all you can eat because I can imagine we would have payed a lot of money & never received any of the food. Not only did I leave hungry & thirsty, I left feeling insulted & embarrassed. I had drawn unwanted & uncalled for attention to myself by people who were getting waited on. On top of that I had entertained a friend in this low grade place. This is the first time I've left a restaurant with my stomach still rumbling. Also I really doubt this place is owned by a Japanese person, that must have been a rumor. In our culture no matter what kind of place the restaurant is, we have a strong "hospitality" rule where good service is number one over anything. When I find out that an owner of a place is Japanese I find that the service is fairly decent. The race of the owner doesn't matter to me but I can't help but judge on that aspect if the rumors are true. Definitely not authentic at all. Maybe it was just bad luck but I can't help but feel like were singled out for whatever reason because it was just not busy enough for us to have had that level of service. I will never come back again & never recommend this place.
