  • Excellent BBQ, tucked away in an industrial-ish neighborhood. I wanted BBQ. Yelp led me to Rollin Smoke. We drove there. Upon arrival, I was somewhat skeptical, because this place is in a somewhat sketchy area. Surrounded by strip clubs, warehouses, and a few rundown places, it doesn't really look like the place you'd take your family. But when I got past that initial impression and walked inside, I knew I was in a good place. The location is pretty small. There is seating out in front and two rooms of seating inside. Most of it is communal in style--just picnic-style tables with attached benches. The place is permeated with the smell of smoking meat. What a great smell! There are a number of good options on the menu. As I do pretty much without fail at a BBQ joint that is new to me, I got a sample plate with some brisket and chicken. The combo comes with a few pieces of brisket, 1/4 of a chicken (a leg and a thigh), a piece of Texas toast, a couple of pickles, and a side. I got the green beans side (despite normally going for the BBQ beans) and ate that first. I was pretty impressed with just the green beans. They were fresh and crisp and were seasoned to perfection. Then I worked my way into the chicken. It was seasoned perfectly as well and cooked just right. It was nice and tender and delicious. I often skip the skin on chicken, but this was great stuff, and I ate it all. Finally, the star, the brisket. Brisket is the standard by which I measure any BBQ joint. This is excellent brisket. It's sliced to the right thickness. It's nice and tender and falls apart with just a little work with the fork. And it's delicious. With or without any added sauce, this stuff rocks! Speaking of sauces, there are a few options. I went with the Arkansas version, which turned out to be pretty darn good. When I first squeezed some out of the bottle, I feared that it was too liquidy, but the consistency was great when put straight onto the brisket itself. My friend got a brisket salad, and I ended up finishing it for her. It too was delicious. I'm not really a fan of romaine-based salads, but the greens and tomatoes were all fresh, the peppers were spicy, and the brisket was delicious on the salad as well. There are a few options that are intriguing to me for when I visit in the future with a healthy appetite. The $35 all-you-can eat option is a rarity among BBQ joints. And the picture of the burger on the wall made the burger look like quite the challenge. This is great BBQ, not just for Vegas, but in general.
