This was a poor "first class" experience from beginning to end. We were flying to Seattle from Vegas and as a surprise upgraded us to first class.
First off Alaska does not give first class passengers any additional weight for luggage, it is 50 lbs, same as coach. All other airlines usually give 70. The flight arrived a little late and they did a good job getting us back on time. Once we boarded there was no pre-flight drink service like other airlines offer.
The flight is only two hours and they did not even start the drink service until an hour in to the flight. Their website boasts about all of their amazing new food including fresh baked cookies and gelato for dessert. Our "dinner" was nothing more than a side salad (compare with the size of the lime wedge!). No warm bread, no appetizer, no fresh baked cookies or gelato. Just a small piece of chocolate for dessert. I had to ask for a refill even though the flight attendant walked by and saw my wine glass empty.
Although the leather seats were comfortable, Alaska is far behind its competition when it comes to first class.
