  • Solely based on service received in their bakery section: I've always purchased cakes from the Weston and Rutherford location and assumed the quality of the cake would be the same here. I was wrong. My friend and I arrived and wanted to order a cake. There were two people ahead of us but no distinct line, and 3 people were working. One was creating a cake, another was doing something else behind customer sight lines, and the third was half-helping customers. The third seemed to be trying to help, but was also focusing on making cakes as well? It was confusing and made it hard to find out who to talk to. My friend and I stood waiting for 5 minutes, and tried to ask the third worker for help, when she then said "sorry, there's someone ahead of you". That was fine and we kept waiting. She took about 5 minutes and the customer wasn't done yet, so I think she asked one of the other workers to help her as she went back to making cakes. The worker who was behind customer line sight then appeared and asked us how she could help us. We asked if there were any tuxedo cakes in stock and she said "no." There was then this awkward pause because she didn't offer anything else. I then asked her to list the cakes at the top tier, which she did, and then she looked away, impatient with us. I mean, it's not OUR fault that your cakes are mislabeled/not labeled at all? I then asked her to step out of the bakery section to come tell us what flavours all the cakes were, which she did. She spoke very fast and looked tired with us. She said one cake was "black and white" and I asked her what flavour that was. She repeated herself, and I said "...but black and white isn't a flavour..." She then said it was vanilla and chocolate. We ended up choosing that cake. She had nice piping skills at least, and as we left, she said "have a good day". I mean, we WERE having a good day, until the poor customer service received here. I think we may have just caught the bakery worker on an off-day, as she did try to bid us a friendly farewell. Unfortunately for us, a few hours later, we discovered that we made the wrong choice in cake flavour. The cake inside was dry, and the frosting was very thick...like butter, almost. It was very unusual. I do not recommend this cake flavour. I may give this Longo's another try when ordering cakes, but I'll play it safe for the next while at the Weston store due to their consistent service and cake quality.
