| - I was super excited to visit Hance Park for Chinese Week and Lunar New Year festivities. I also saw Kim Quintero with Channel 3 there on tv, and it looked fun. I got there, and was sadly underwhelmed.
The festival was 3 small rows of booths, a stage, a two or three ride kiddo area, and a line of food trucks. There were a few booths of chotchkies, like Buddha statues, Japanese Maneki-neko, and toys. No great art. A few cool pieces of clothing were only available in huge sizes, so we couldn't get things we actually liked. There were utilities, GS cookies, resorts, insurance...nothing really relevant.
The stage had dancers and martial arts demonstrations. I swear that Napoleon Dynamite was up there with a bow staff. The Dragon Dance was really short. We would have liked to see it more, or even engage the audience. The little kiddos were cute.
Ok, the food.
There was a line of food trucks. There was kettle corn and fair food. There was Navajo fry bread. There was Cambodian. There was Hawaiian. There was Mexican. There was Japanese. Hardly any Chinese. There was a guy in a truck called "Mein Man", which i thought was hilarious. I wasn't feeling noodles though. J and I opted for Tako-Yaki. It was amazing. Super hot though...burned my palate. Worth it.
The "festival"? Not so much. At least I got to spend some quality time with my man over octopus balls.
