| - Here is an email that I sent to Leon Lee the GM at Surprise Honda. He replied a short time later asking what would be a good time to reach me. I wasn't going to be available and asked for him to reply to the email (I also like things in writing.) He never responded. I followed up again letting him know I was giving him an opportunity once more before I I left a public response. It has been about 3 weeks and no reply.
---
Good Afternoon Mr. Lee,
I am going to share with you my experience at you at your dealership today and allow you to respond before I leave public reviews.
I searched your website this morning and had inquired about STOCK #: 50097T for my son.
Advertised as a Pre-owned 2009 Honda Civic EX with Navigation (turns out no Navigation on this vehicle, yet as of the writing of this email it is still listed that way on your website.)
Sean Corbett had responded to my email (and if you wish to verify the email chain I will be happy to supply.) He informed the car was still available. I explained it would be a cash deal, purchasing today and wanted his best price OTD.
He replied back $9,826.58
I in turn thanked him for his prompt reply and said we weren't even close, and wished him well. He then asked what I was thinking, to which I told him 8k. He replied "Tell you what, we may be close, come on in around 12:30 so I can show you the vehicle and we can go from there. We want to make sure you like the vehicle first." To which I stated it would have to be very close to make a deal work.
I took time away from my office to come in. He was with a customer so I went to look at the car. Strike 1 was the false advertising with the navigation. After about 30 minutes and Sean still not available your sales manager greeted us. I believe his name was John, but could be mistaken (nobody offered business cards.)
We did the test drive song and dance, got back and I asked for the best price and reiterated the equipment was less than what I came to see.
Sean came over a short time later with following sales protocol with the "retail value" printouts. I let him give his spiel, and then again asked him the same question I asked of the sales manager. What is the best price OTD?
He went back and they did their pretend talk and both came back.
They presented me with a cost of $9500.
At this point I am agitated. I said after everything discussed and you told me "we may be close" you are presenting me with something only $300 less than I already declined and nowhere close to the amount requested. He sat there and said nothing as John carried the conversation. John said for the inconvenience with the navigation system and for my coming down they would also throw in a gift card. Unless the gift card is $1500 to make up the difference that we discussed don't insult me!
Here is my take away. I was deliberately misled on TWO points to get me into your dealership in hopes of making a sale.
