  • I was carving BBQ today and decided to go to Honey Bears. I hadn't been to Honey Bears in years, and this location in forever. Something has changed, apart from the looks, which now look old, unkempt, and run down, the food was...no bueno! I ordered a pulled pork sandwich combo and a hot link on the side. I paid almost 14 bucks. My combo came with the sandwich, a side, and a drink. The hot link was an extra $1.99. Now, I don't mind paying 14 bucks if the food is amazing, this was not the case. My sandwich had plenty of meat but it was just blah, nothing amazing, the bun was some generic bun that was super soggy from the meat. No, if my sandwich was made when I ordered it and I ate at the restaurant there is no reason my bun should be that soggy that fast. Right? Fine, I removed most of the bottom bun and spread the remaining meat on the top bun and ate that. The mac and cheese, oh man, the mac and cheese. It was lukewarm, it was not cheesy, or creamy, or anything. I took 2 small bites and asked to switched it out either for a hot mac and cheese or something else. The girl at the counter stood there for a bit, then went and asked the Spanish speaking lady in the kitchen if the mac and cheese was turned on since "the lady at the counter is saying it's not hot". She came back and asked me if I wanted something else other than the mac and cheese, I chose potato salad..... UGH, I went from bad to worse. This potato salad had a lot going on and all the ingredients over powered each other. I took only one bite of that and was done. I finished my sandwich and my hot link and got out of there. I'm not saying I won't have Honey Bears again, but I will definitely not be coming to this location. I'm hoping the location in central Phoenix has been better kept - restaurant and food. PS don't go off most of the pictures posted on this page, and if you do, please check out the dates. they are as old as 2010 - and back then, this place was better. Not sure if personnel changed, owners, cooks, or what but it is not the same.
