| - First let me say that if I could give no stars I would. I went to town and country dental in 2016 for a routine cleaning and exam. It had been several years since I'd been to a dentist, due to my own negligence. I wasn't sure where to start with trying to find a good dentist so I turned to yelp. This office is very close to my house and had good enough reviews, so I called and made my appt. I should've stopped there, calling and making the appt should've been my sign. The woman who answered was pretty rude and I hung up feeling unwanted as a patient but I decided that all these other people on yelp must know something I don't. Come my appt day, I showed up early and filled out my insurance and medical paperwork, normal stuff. I got called back pretty quickly and proceeded to have my cleaning done, the hygienist was nice but I felt she could've done more to clean my teeth. Especially since I told her it would've been nearly 4 years since I had seen a dentist. It just seemed pretty rushed. The dentist came in after my X-rays to look everything over, he was very nice, but again seemed rushed. This is were everything started to get really interesting. They told me I had something like 10-12 cavities. WHAT!? Now I know it had been sometime since a dentist visit but that seemed excessive right away. Also no one ever showed me my X-rays or explained to me what teeth were effected or how bad it all was. He just went down my row of teeth with my mouth open naming teeth and letters. After everything I went up to the front desk and they tried getting me to make a follow up appointment and told me how much I owed. They said that it was more because i had a 'deep cleaning'. Remember when I said the hygienist barely did anything? I was pretty frustrated by this point. They told me they would pre-authorized with my insurance the 10-12 fillings I would need. But told me I was looking at about $1200 worth of work out of pocket. Mind you my insurance covers 85%. This all seemed so outrageous to me. I left with a bad feeling and having paid for a deep clean I didn't really get. The doctor did call me the next day to check up,so I guess that was nice. The office lady then proceeded to call me once a week for about a month asking me when I would come in for the rest of the work. I told them repeatedly I couldn't afford it at the moment and when I was ready I would call them. That didn't stop them from still calling me. I had to tell them to please stop calling. Fast forward to this week, I finally realized I needed to see a different dentist and get my teeth taken care of. I mean I apparently had 12 rotting teeth about to fall out of my head right? Wrong. I made an appt with a different dentist, the office staff asked if I would be ok with them contacting town and country to get a copy of my file. I said sure, no harm in a comparison. Town and country sent my new dentist the wrong X-rays! They weren't even MY TEETH!!! this other patient who's X-rays ended up in my file, had a root canal and still had wisdom teeth. I have never had a root canal and I had my wisdom out when I was 16. How unprofessional that this office can't even keep their files organized. Imagine having someone else's X-rays in your file and then having unnecessary work done as a result! So my new dentist tried to call them back to get the correct file, several times. Town and country then began ignoring their phone calls!!! New dentist called from a different line and low and behold it was answered on the first ring. Again so unprofessional and embarrassing! Back to the 10-12 cavities- I had my appointment at new dentist today. Dentist sat down with me and went over all my X-rays and explained what is going on with all of my teeth. And SURPRISE! I only have 4 cavities!!! Super simple to fix and will cost me less than $100 after my insurance.
Town and country should be embarrassed for their blatant patient disrespect as well as their fraudulent claims.
TLDR: dentist office seems okay- but will scam you and your insurance for extra money.
Also, I am taking this to the BBB as well as the Nevada Dental association. But since I found them on yelp I wanted anyone else looking to be aware.
