  • So disappointed. Not what I was hoping for. This was my very first experience at a celebrity chef restaurant. I had high hopes. The atmosphere was nice, homey touches here and there, nicely decorated, and cute touches like whisks for the light figures. My disappointment was with the food. I ordered the chicken Marsala on the advice of our server. Unfortunately, my chicken was not properly trimmed, and had a large strip of fat on both pieces. In addition, the chicken was overcooked and chewy. (A patron at the next table had chicken rigatoni, and felt his chicken was overcooked as well). It seemed like the chicken breasts had been cooked earlier in the day and then reheated. The Marsala sauce did not have the sweet flavor you usually taste with Marsala, and tasted more like a simple brown sauce with very little flavor. The side pasta that came with the Marsala was well cooked, well seasoned, and quite tasty. My husband ordered the lasagne, as it was a "specialty" according to the server. The lasagne was fine, although not really any better than other Italian restaurants I have tried. It is heavy on the veal, and heavily seasoned with anise. If you really like anise, it's definitely the lasagne for you. We ordered the famous lobster tail for dessert. It was a very small portion for the price ($9 for a piece the size of a very small pear) and did not taste fresh. The cream filling was very good, but the pastry was very chewy and even hard to cut through. On the plus side, the service was very good, and the focaccia before dinner was also very good. I was just disappointed that the food was not better quality for the price.
