While the sales people I worked with were very good and thorough, we agreed verbally to a price and 60 month payments. Then I was sent to the Finance Department and it all is a nightmare from there. The Finance guy fast talked and pushed for 30 minutes trying to sell me the extended warranty. I said no at least 4 or 5 times. He kept "dropping the price" so I thought I was getting a reduction in the cost of the plan and reduction in services because he kept scribbling things out.
What he was doing was extending my car payments by another 15 months!! He never said this. He never quoted the full price of the protection plan (nearly $2000). When he printed the contract, he tapped and highlighted places to initial and pushed several pieces of paper to me.
When I was refusing him at first, he kept asking me "Why? Don't you see value in this plan? What is another $20 a month...?" etc. It was annoying, overwhelming and I finally acquiesced.
I am cancelling the protection plan -- Nevada allows 30 days to do so. But it took an email and three phone calls and a huge hissy fit at the dealership to get the form I need to cancel it. I was completely unaware of the 75 months and now that the contract is being canceled, it's still a bit more than 60 months. I feel like the people involved knew what they were doing and I feel like they are extremely dishonest.
I should have trusted my gut and walked out...I wanted to...
On the bright side, I'm told I get free car washes and oil changes for the life of the vehicle, but I suspect therell be some hidden charge when I try to take advantage of that service and I'm sure they'll try to tell me something is wrong with the car every time I bring it in so they can get more funds by servicing it.
