  • Thank goodness I'm not ever planning on getting married again, because I will never set foot in this shop again. I found my perfect, the most perfect wedding dress imaginable here, but after that it spiraled downward quickly. The first visit was great. Not too much personal service, but I'd say it was about on par with David's Bridal. I tried on a hideous dress, an ok dress and then "The One". People stopped dead in their tracks to scream "Say Yes to the Dress!" at me. Women who were shopping with other brides started crying. It was truly amazing. Now, if you want to check them out, go ahead. But if you are like me and find the perfect dress here, heed my advice...do NOT leave your dress behind. Mine was never touched when I tried it on, pristine and flawless. So we bought it, paid in full, paid for additional dry cleaning and pressing and scheduled a date for alterations. This is when we found our first difficulty. Communication was not the easiest as I am not fluent in Spanish. We arrive for the first fitting, and both my mother and I notice the dress is now dirty. There are smudges that were not there when I BOUGHT and PAID for the dress...photos from the first day verified this. My theory is that they put my dress back out on the floor ad let others try it on. However, not wanting to make a fuss (atypical behavior for me, avoiding the bridezilla appellation at all costs) neither of us said anything. I figured they were going to clean it before I picked it up, so whatever. Then comes the day just 3 weeks before the wedding, when I am supposed to get my dress. I call the night before to confirm and am first told I will get a call back. An hour and a half later, I call again and get a different person who randomly transfers me to someone's voicemail. A third call nets me a dude who says everything is good and my dress will be ready the next day. Feeling confident because I confirmed the appointment, we arrive the next day. A staff member goes off to bring my dress...and disappears. Seriously, she was gone for almost an hour and forty five minutes. Even the other staff was asking where she was. No one is communicating with us what's going on, why the delay. We could barely get their attention after an hour of waiting. However, they did bring my dress, the bag we paid for, which had brown, muddy foot prints all over it. "Oh, yeah. It got stepped on" was the explanation I received. Wait a second, did you WALK on my wedding dress? Are you serious? REALLY? At least they had it in the super expensive, way too small, plastic bag. At long last, I am prepare to don the layers of tulle and complete my final fitting. As the seamstress assists me into the dress I first notice a smell, and the as the dress goes on, even worse. It's WET! Soaking wet, with dry cleaning (clearly not that dry) chemicals. As the dress is being laced, we realize that a few of the boning prices on the top are twisted a bit oddly and not laying flat. As my mom was trying to fluff out the tulle and fix the twisted boning, she read the tag - "DO NOT DRY CLEAN" - which could possibly explain why the dress was WET! They staff then had the gall to blame me for their complete lack of professionalism. Apparently my calling to confirm the appointment "confused" them. Because, you know, confirmation calls are so out of the ordinary and, well, professional. Now, I did not see all the horrors my poor dress went through, but I imagine getting lost in the store, rushed to the dry cleaners, yanked out wet, and walked on were probably enough. They even claimed that I never paid for dry cleaning, when my original invoice showed it. The seamstress work was shoddy, communication about the bustle was almost impossible and the bustle had to be redone elsewhere. The staff was invisible at best, rude and insulting on the bad side, and clearly not at all concerned with service or quality after they got their money. I ended up getting alterations at Alterations by Kathy in Ahwatukee, and she was awesome, and in the long run the dress was beautiful. If you, or someone you know is thinking about wedding dress shopping, please be aware that you won't save any money here, but you will become good friends with new grey hairs, panic attacks, and if you are lucky, really nasty chemicals.
