Great space for eating, especially upstairs. One of the best places in Madison to meet a friend for tea or coffee and talk. The veggie rueben is a surprise hit, expertly done and very filling. The 'real' rueben is also good, but actually not as good as their seitan rendition. The med plate is a generous portion of Wisconsin white-bread preparation. It's not bad, it's just really far from authentic. Breakfast here is pretty good.
The big attraction are the scones, which for my money are the best scones in Madison. Large, filling, delicious, and moist.
It gets very busy here on the weekends but on most weekdays if you catch them at the tail-end of lunch you'll have a couple hours of comfortable open space in which to hang out, work, and eat.
