  • Started my trip leaving New Orleans heading for Salt Lake City UT. Everything seemed to be going well until the first transfer in Shreveport Louisiana. Please pay close attention to the following... bus from Shreveport to Dallas 2 hours late therefore arrived in Dallas 2 1/2 hours late. This means the domino effect has begun. The late arrival to Dallas meant I missed my transfer by 45 minutes ( only 45 minutes because it also was running late. Do you notice a pattern in the making?) After speaking to the, almost caring, ticket agent, I was notified I would be stuck in Dallas until mid-morning the next day. The new ticket was for 9:15am making it 11 hours in total delays at this point. Being that the already disgusting terminal, full of the stench built up from a never ending supply of people suffering my same fate at the seemingly evil hand of Greyhound. There were no seats and the floor littered with the carcasses of the weary travelers destined to spend the night in Purgatory. Between the funky smell and the criminal presence ever so obvious there was way that I would be getting any rest here. So I located a Motel 6 on the internet that advertised a single room for $57. I made a healthy decision to get the room, only if I were making healthy decisions prior to boarding Greyhound. I located a cab in front of the station and told him where I needed to go. When we arrived at the hotel I attempted to see what I owed but noticed that the meter wasn't even on... not good... I asked how much I owed and received my answer "$40.00" the driver said. Now at this point I would like to believe that I was still thinking and acting like a rational human being, so I paid. I had hoped that a warm shower and some sleep would help it all go away. Day 2 begins and I decided to request an Uber, not to my surprise the trip back to the terminal only cost$10. I walk into what can only be described as a MASH unit tent on the Frontline of a warzone. I started to feel a little guilty. A good night's sleep and a shower had divided me from battle hardened travel companions. I soon would win my way back into their hearts. As I approached the ticket counter to confirm that today would go off without a hitch, I couldn't help but notice the swollen, puffy and tired eyes of my fellow travelers. The ticket agent looking on with a confident, almost cockey, look told me before I could even speak " if you are asking about a delayed bus you might as well go sit down because we don't know anything. When we know we will let everyone know. So stop coming up here asking because there's no information to be had". That sent me into a semi flashback of my mom's back hand correcting me for some felonious act I had committed. I totally lost my #+&@. When I was done with this person who was missed informed into believing that she actually was in a position of power, I was hungry for more. I got on the phone and called the Greyhound customer service center and tore into every person that I could get on the line. Happy to share what I had just received from one of their own. Before I continue let me make this clear, I knew there would be no solution to all of our problems, they were not going make a bus appear any quicker but they were just going to have to put up with me, until of course the police showed up. I have never found comfort in letting ignorant people know that they are ignorant, but in this situation the Greyhound staff acted as if the people, that were now more than a day or more behind schedule, were to blame and that they shouldn't have to put up with aggravated customers. I am still on the cursed journey at this very moment and would like to hear show stopper.... they've now managed to lose my luggage. That's right. I will be writing more as the story goes so stay tuned.... and whatever you do....stay away from Greyhound!
