My girlfriend had an ultrasound appointment for 2pm Sat. 1/26. We arrived super early at 12:50pm which is usually a big advantage... Also, keep in mind that later when I looked online, this is also a walk-in facility. I probably don't want to know how many "walk-in" patients went ahead of us--I would be more furious. We waited patiently almost a full hour before they called her up for registration at 1:43pm... We sat back down but we notice how many people were being called back since we got there at 12:50. The waiting room is very big and at 2pm I asked the receptionist if we were getting close and she said if not in 15 minutes come back up and let her know. By 2:15 we could swear the faces in the waiting room had changed 3 full times with all of the patients coming in new and the ones getting called back for their procedure and leaving--And we were still sitting there... Her procedure was just an ultrasound so not being a doctor but just a bright guy-ultrasound has to be the easiest "x-ray" procedure there is... At 2:30pm I was finally livid and spoke to the girl again---her only answer was the ultrasound department is backed up... We waited about 10 more minutes then we left out of major frustration..
I did call back and left a message with a supervisor "Nicole" to call me back but of course she never did nor ever will.... The medical field is on a serious decline---the doctors and facilities want more money causing insurance premiums to go through the roof... Insurance companies want to insure they stay profitable also. Many pockets are getting stuffed but at the same time you can kiss a nice bedside manor goodbye-nobody really cares..... You are not a patient you are just a number. We are hopeful mostly doubtful and also prayerful that my girlfriend's lymph node is not cancerous. When you are sitting in a waiting room that long and their is no compassion by the operators it is very sad. Plus there is no recourse(discount/gratis for their downfall). Just as this typing will probably get ignored by Desert Radiology but a few researching consumers will hopefully read it. I hope the few people who read it and maybe when they get their x-ray referral page and it says "Desert Radiology", they will call their doctor back up and say please switch me to another radiology office because of what I read on Yelp...
We are also changing the specialist(General Surgery Associates) she might have to go see if the ultrasound does not come back normal. When you try to call their office you only get voicemails and you have to wait for someone to call you back a day or two later.... You can't run a health care facility like that...
Thank you.. Rick
