  • Here's the deal: 24 hour breakfast. Yes, it's sort of gross and smokey in here. And no, the service is not that great. But give me an extra spicy bloody mary and a plate of steak and eggs at 10 pm after a long day of #eventlife and I am one happy camper. Ellis Island feels like a lot of Vegas spots to me--gluttonous meals, cheap drinks, an excessive amount of cigarette smoke (they even have cig vending machines), slots, and loud, party people. Although this vibe isn't typically my jam, I can get down with it for a day or two while in Sin City. I was here with two coworkers and I was definitely the most into this place, because again, 24 hour breakfast. Our server took so long to say hello and grab us waters after we were seated that we almost took off, but alas, he made his way over and took our orders. People watching was top notch here and made the quick wait for food even quicker. My bloody mary was solid and my steak and eggs situation was that of your typical diner--not the best, but greasy and satisfying. Our meal was inexpensive and we were in, out, and on our way to the next smoke-filled venue pretty quickly. One more thing: I'm not a huge beer fan and didn't try it, but I do think it's interesting that Ellis Island has their own brewery. They had a lot of local beer options onsite and even their own hard rootbeer (that one piqued my interest). While I probably wouldn't go out of my way to dine here in the near future, I sure wouldn't be mad about another late night breakfast next time I'm in town.
