| - Where do I even begin?? After all the bad service I've seen in Charlotte I didn't think it could get any worse, man was I wrong.
Went in for lunch with a friend on a Friday afternoon. On my way to the bathroom a cute blonde waitress was looking around the dining room with a salad w/ chicken in her hand, not knowing where it went. When I came out of the bathroom, she was still there hoping someone would raise their hand and claim the salad. Pretty obvious the waitress didn't know the table numbers.
I wasn't very enthusiastic when said waitress came over to our table to take our drink order. My friend asked the beer specials and instead of just telling him, she had to get the placard off the table. We got our first round and our food came out shortly later. The waitress asked if I wanted another beer (mine was empty), I said yes and waited to start eating until she brought my drink.
At the same time she got sat another table of 6 women. Before bringing me my beer, and with my food getting cold, our waitress did the following:
1. Took the ladies drink order
2. Brought drinks to them
3. Took their food order
4. Put that order in the computer
5. Came back to their table and STARTED TO TAKE PICTURES AND CHAT!!!!
Elapsed time: approx 7 - 10 minutes
All the while my beer is sitting up at the service bar getting warm as the food in front of me is getting cold. You may be asking, was it that busy? Nope, not in the least. You had other waitresses walking around, one bartender (yes there was more than one that day) was so bored she was cleaning the beer taps and several managers were just going about their day as if everything was great. I finally got so fed up that I got up and, while not yelling, pretty loudly asked the bartender if I could get my own beer so that I could start eating. She rightfully looked mortified. Not one bit of teamwork, it was every person for themselves as far as the staff was concerned.
The manager came over a few minutes later. When I relayed what had happened he apologized and proceeded to tell me that he had only started his position in the last 6 months and he hadn't had time to fix things yet. I knew at that moment that he couldn't fix things. If your waitress doesn't know 1. The table numbers 2. The beer specials and 3. How to properly wait on more than one table at a time she shouldn't be on the floor, Period! That takes only a shift or two to figure out and maybe another shift or 2 to fix.
I called the District Manager to tell him about my experience and ask for an interview, knowing I could fix this location in short order. Seems he was already looking to replace the Manager. If you look at the trend of reviews and after my experience I wasn't surprised. What did surprise me was that during the interview I was not asked one single question about how to improve service. Since this was the major problem at this location and the whole reason I called about the job, I was a little taken aback. I give him credit for even sitting down and interviewing me, but obviously I didn't fit the "type" they were looking for. I'll take that as a compliment, thank you very much.
The food was actually good, but the service completely destroyed any possibility of a good experience.
