I've visited Bakerbots many times - usually after hot yoga at Tula West studio, which is a few steps away from it. When my friend and I first went, they only had one bench and a small table + chairs outside (and a small table with two chairs inside). Now they have 3 or 4 benches outside (which is great, since this place is really popular - there's usually a few people sitting outside every time I walk by, be it at 10PM or 10AM).
The owners and their family are great - they are really friendly and provide suggestions when you ask (listen to them :) )
Their baked goods are SO GOOD. Even their red velvet cupcake (with cream cheese icing) is amazing (I'm not really a fan of cream cheese icing or red velvet). Their cookies are fairly big and have always been soft and chewy when I order them, either by themselves or in an ice cream sandwich. You can order a whole ice cream sandwich (2 cookies of your choice + ice cream flavour of your choice), a 1/2 or 1/4. I find that 1/4 is more than enough to satisfy sweet tooth cravings. I just had a sugar cookie today (it was really good... eating it helped me passed the time waiting for the TTC to start running again). The everything cookie + burnt marshmallow ice cream is my friend's favourite combination.
I couldn't give Bakerbots a 5 / 5 because it's not really as good as it gets - let me explain before I get lynched by diehard bakerbot fans. I love love love the people and the food, but they really need more space, to display the baked goods, to show off people eating them. Outside is nice, but giving people the option to sit inside and comfortably chat (like the gelato place across the street) (i.e. not sit on benches) is all that it takes to make this a 5 / 5 for me (and i haven't ever given a 5 / 5). I understand rent and other issues might have influenced the owners' decisions to stay there, but i really think getting a slightly bigger (i'm not talking huge tim hortons sized) will help bring in more customers.
