| - This place is probably a 4-star for Charlotte, given the competition or lack thereof.
Everything was decent. The service and the cleanliness were all good. Service was also very prompt. These guys hustle. :)
The food was probably good for Charlotte, but to be honest, would be sub-par for anywhere else. I have to clarify that I'm a major food snob when it comes to a number of cuisines, Vietnamese being one of them.
The "summer rolls" were stuffed with the usual, but also had salad mix lettuce in it to beef it up. It's just not what I've ever seen. Two rolls were $5 and I find that pricey, but I can accept it. The shrimp in the rolls was fresh and the peanut sauce seemed fresh and homemade.
The pho was lacking. For one thing, a medium (which is the smallest they have) is $10. I don't think I've ever paid $10 for a bowl of pho. I'm used to prices in bigger cities, like, $5.50. There didn't seem to be a load of meat, or anything terrible interesting in my companion's bowl. I didn't see what warranted the $10 price tag. My vegetarian bowl had a few thin strips of bell pepper, one mushroom, 4 small broccoli florets, and a couple triangles of fried tofu. It was okay. It was unfortunately very very salty and left my tongue tingling for several hours afterwards.
It gets the job done if you're really craving some pho, but I'm not sure I'd be clamoring to come here again. $35 for 2 people for a pho lunch is just insane.
