The "BRAKE" light appeared on my dash when I turned on my car. I looked in the owner's manual and read what the problem could be. Someone recommended taking my car to Fletcher's Tire and Auto Service on Reems Road. As I drove to the garage I noticed the "BRAKE" light did not stay on but would come on every once in a while. The technician found master cylinder fluid very low. Brake pads have 60% life left front and rear. Master cylinder has leaked brake fluid into brake booster. Technician heard a clunk noise from front when braking and recommended replacing lower control arm bushings pads and tires. I was then quoted a repair to fix all the above and to replace four tires. My first thought was am I being taken advantage of because I'm a female. I spoke to my husband and he suggested taking my car for a second opinion. I explained to Fletcher's the $ amount they quoted was not in my budget. Casey then gave me a quote to repair only the brake issue. When leaving the garage my "BRAKE" light did not come back on the entire distance to the other recommended garage which was five miles in stop and go traffic. I took my car to Coury's Auto Service in El Mirage. They were unaware I was bringing my car in for a second opinion. I explained the "BRAKE" light came on when I turned on my car that morning. Their finding - your brakes are at 50% and you need some fluid. I then explained taking my car first to Fletcher's and told them Fletcher's repair recommendation leaving out the part about the control arm and tires. They thoroughly looked over my car again. They said they found no evidence of a leak. They topped of the required fluid and said I was good to go at no charge. I then questioned the control arm. They checked this issue and the tires. Coury's recommended replacing the control arms and tires. The control arms I knew were bad as I had heard the noise but ignored it and my husband had already told me I needed new tires. At no time did I feel like I was being taken advantage of because I was a female. Coury's Auto Service installed new front lower control arms at a much less cost than Fletcher's had quoted. Coury's said they could get replacement tires for me but they also recommended buying the tires at a center that would offer warranty coverage no matter where my travels might take me. I had replacement tires put on at Big O Tires on Waddell Road. I saved myself more than $1,100 and I'm thankful I found an auto repair shop I can trust.
