  • This is the 2nd location of Muddy Cup. The first one is located in Bellevue next to G'Oven cookies and the accompanying ice cream store. This location opened about a week ago. The place is very small but the owner told me that next spring she hopes to expand to a neighboring building where there can be room to sit both inside and out. Free WiFi is available. Passcode available upon request. There are only a couple of high top tables near the back. Their coffee comes from Prestogeorge in the Strip District which I am quite familiar with. Today's blend was called Uganda -an earthy but smooth blend. I got to sample some of it and found that it was not acidic which I was glad about. In addition to regular coffee, she carries lattes, mocha's, etc. You can even customize your own by choosing from the flavors provided. Cold brews are available as well. In addition to coffee products she also sells various teas and hot chocolate. On to the baked goods. The giant cookies come from G'Oven. Others come from Sweet Sam's which is a bakery warehouse to provider similar to 360 bakery. I have had cookies from G'Oven before and have been very pleased with them. The biscottis come from Auntie Ann's. I was very interested in that red velvet cake however, I had my fill of sweets today after a trip to Homestead. I got a small coffee and sat down to learn more about the place. Please note at this time there are no public restrooms but that could change once the owner begins expansion to the neighboring building. I enjoyed my small cup and was pleased with the fact that she brings both coffee and baked goods here from neighborhoods that may be too far for people to go to on their own. I did learn that once she expands it is doubtful she will be serving breakfast sandwiches in addition to pastries but time will tell. The place is decked out with all types of cute sayings and old coffee canisters from various brands from way back when. This coffee shop is a welcome addition to the Dormont neighborhood. Potomac Ave is fully open again so you won't have to deal with the construction issues. Pay metered parking is located on a cross street or small lot on that same adjacent street. The shop is located just off of Washington Road across from a Thai restaurant. Looking forward to coming back here to try that red velvet cake. Prices are very reasonable and makes a great opportunity to try some of the products found in other neighborhoods of Pittsburgh.
